PushPush Cartoons is a deceptively simple game that can become quite intriguing as you move through the levels. The basic objective is to push around glasses or 5-gallon containers and collect all the drops of liquid in the shortest amount of time. Points are earned as drops are collected, increasing with each consecutive drop collected in a single move. A glass only holds 6 drops but gives a bonus when filled. Five gallon containers are bottomless.

A player moves a character around a grid using the arrow keys. When facing a movable object (there are several), holding down the Command key increases force. Releasing the key pushes the object with that amount of force. Other obstacles include holes that both your character and other objects can fall into. The puzzles increase in difficulty in an appropriate manner as you progress through the game. The first levels are simple enough to familiarize you with the basic movement, but subsequent levels increase in difficulty such that careful thought and planning is required before making a move.

The graphics are primitive looking, but the author incorporates some sophisticated effects that seem incongruous (like unrolling the screen like a piece of paper). The first time I played this game I was turned off by the appearance. It looked like someone's first toy Macintosh program. But if you can get past expecting an immersive 3-D Tomb Raider experience and start solving the puzzles, it is quite enjoyable.

  • Simple to learn user interface
  • Intriguing puzzles

  • Primitive graphics appearance
