The Mac Guild Forums

When you signed up for the Mac Guild, you became part of one of the largest growing Apple Users Group in the US. Sign-up automatically adds you to the announcement list, but does not automatically create a forum account for you. If you want to be part of the forums, you must register for a forum ID at

As a user of a Mac, iPhone, iPad, or any other Apple product, you may, at times, have problems or questions that you need help with. The forums is the place to ask your questions or simply discuss the technology. The forum provides a place to share Apple related information and to get help with Apple products as well as 3rd party products that support your Apple products. The forum is also used to share discounts on Apple-related products and make announcements regarding Apple-related products and news. Many of those announcements will be mirrored on the announcement mailing list.

From time to time, the Mac Guild holds raffles and contests, and the forums website is used to administer these events.

Prior to creating a forum ID, you will need a special Mac Guild ID which is prompted for during the registration process. This is to ensure you are a Mac Guild member before gaining access to the forums. To get your Mac Guild ID, simply reply to your welcome email when you signed up for the Mac Guild (or use this contact form).

Once you have a Mac Guild ID, register for a forum ID at When creating your forum ID, it's common to use your first name followed by the first initial or first syllable of your last name (basically, something that uniquely identifies you, but is descriptive of who you are).

The Mac Guild forums works much like most other online forums. When creating a new post, choose the forum topic that is most alligned with the post you would like to create.

The Mac Guild forum also has an Arcade room. Challenge your fellow Mac Guild members for the high score of your favorite games, and play them online.

The difference between a mailing list and a forum is primarily that information in a mailing list "comes to you", while information in a forum, you must got out and "get". For those that prefer information coming to you, you can achieve this on the forums with just a little bit of setup. If you "subscribe" to a forum topic, then any time something is posted in the forum, you will be emailed. If you don't want to get an email on everything in a topic, you could just subscribe to an individual post (and thereby get updates when people reply to that post).

Instructions for subscribing to a topic (aka, a forum board):

  1. First go to the forums (click on the "Forum" link on the left side).
  2. Click on a board topic you are interested in.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and you'll see a "Subscribe forum" link (if it shows as Unsubscribe forum", that means you're already subscribed).
  4. Click on the "Subscribe forum" link. Now you'll get emails each time something is added to that topic (either a new topic post, or replies to existing posts).

NOTE: Repeat steps 1 thru 4 for each forum board. If you want to emulate the mailing list notifications, then it's best to subscribe to each of the boards.

Instructions for subscribing to a specific post:

  1. View the post you are interested in subscribing to.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Subscribe topic" (if the link shows as "Unsubscribe topic", that means you're already subscribed).
